RABBIT HOLE PRIVACY POLICY Rabbit Hole is a Chrome extension that helps you rediscover the internet by serving hand-curated websites, videos, and games. We believe in transparency about how your data is handled. WHAT WE COLLECT Anonymous authentication. When you first use Rabbit Hole, a random anonymous user ID is automatically generated via Firebase Authentication. No email, name, or personal information is required or collected. This ID is used solely to associate your likes, dislikes, and flags with your session. Engagement data. When you interact with the extension, the following is sent to our Firebase database: • Likes: The URL you liked and your anonymous user ID • Dislikes: The URL you disliked and your anonymous user ID (used internally to improve curation) • Flags/Reports: The URL, report reason, and your anonymous user ID • Submissions: URLs you submit for review, along with your anonymous user ID Usage analytics. We collect anonymous usage data to understand how the extension is used and improve the experience. This includes: • Which categories and content filters are used (e.g. "user stumbled in the Retro Web category") • How many stumbles occur per session • Which features are used (popup vs. sidebar, settings page) • The domain of stumbled sites (e.g. "zombo.com" — not full URLs or browsing history) • Daily active usage (whether you used the extension on a given day) All usage analytics are tied to your anonymous user ID and cannot be linked to your real identity. We do not use any third-party analytics services — all data is stored in our own Firebase database. Local-only data. The following data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API and is never sent to any server: • Your browsing history within the extension (last 100 sites visited) • Your favorites list • Seen URL tracking (to avoid repeats) • Your category preferences and settings • Blocked domains • Stumble streak count WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT • We do not collect your name, email, or any personally identifiable information • We do not track your browsing activity outside of the extension • We do not collect or access your browsing history, bookmarks, or passwords • We do not use cookies or tracking pixels • We do not use any analytics services (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, nothing) HOW WE USE YOUR DATA Engagement data (likes) is used to power the Popular tab, which shows community-ranked websites. Dislikes and flags are used internally to identify low-quality or broken content for removal. Submissions are reviewed manually for potential inclusion in the curated catalog. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES Rabbit Hole uses Google Firebase (Firestore database and Anonymous Authentication) to store engagement data. Firebase is operated by Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. No other third-party services are used. DATA SHARING We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties. The only data visible to other users is aggregated like counts on the Popular tab — your individual activity is not identifiable. DATA RETENTION & DELETION You can clear all locally stored data at any time through the extension's Settings page (gear icon → Reset Everything). To delete your server-side data (likes, dislikes, flags), contact us at the email below and we will remove all records associated with your anonymous user ID. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY Rabbit Hole is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
